I knew faeries could cause chaos, but I didn’t expect them to blow up my entire book launch in the best possible way with Amazon Top 100 books.
There are some moments in an author’s life when the world goes still, the air feels charged, and you realize something extraordinary is happening. Launch week for Faeries Don’t Hide—Book 3 of my Heart of the Worlds series—has been one of those moments. It fluttered into the Top 100 Free in the Kindle Store, ranking as high as #73 among hundreds of thousands of books.
But that wasn’t all.
The book went on to claim #1 in three Teen & Young Adult categories:
- Visionary & Metaphysical Fantasy
- Fairy Tales & Folklore
- Coming of Age Fantasy
Three bestseller tags and a lot of screaming (mostly mine).
But the wildest part? The entire series rose with it.

While Faeries Don’t Hide was busy dancing around the Top 100 Free rankings, readers were wandering back through the portals—to the series’ beginning. This happens sometimes during a free promotion, but this time, it hit in a way I’ve only ever dreamed of.

Leapt into major YA bestseller lists, hitting:
- #2 in Nature and the Natural World Fiction (right beside traditionally published giants)
- #2 in Royalty Fairy Tales & Folklore (right beside traditionally published giants)

- Top 100 in Teen & YA Fantasy eBooks (a massive, competitive category)
- Top 100 in Teen & YA Science-Fiction and Fantasy eBooks (a massive, competitive category)
Seeing my first book—my beginning—next to powerhouse authors was surreal. It was sitting there with books written by No screams at first – shocked and stunned silence – and yes! Then screaming!! The over-the-moon joyful kind!
📙 Book 2 — Faeries Don’t Forgive
Then Book 2 decided to take its own victory lap, hitting:
- #1 in Teen & Young Adult Family eBooks
- #4 in Teen & Young Fairy Tales & Folklore eBooks
- Top 25 in Epic Fantasy
- Top 100 in Teen & YA Fantasy eBooks (a massive, competitive category)’
Both books rising at the same time is the dream scenario for any series author.

Yes, to reiterate! Two books — Faeries Don’t Lie and Faeries Don’t Forgive — slipped into the Top 100 Teen & Young Adult Fantasy eBooks chart at the same time.
- Faeries Don’t Lie climbed to #81
- Faeries Don’t Forgive rose to #96
And as if that wasn’t enough to knock me flat, Faeries Don’t Lie also appeared on the massive Best Sellers in Teen & Young Adult Science Fiction & Fantasy eBooks list — the one crowded with legends like Tahereh Mafi, Cassandra Clare, Stephanie Meyers, Sarah J. Maas, Leigh Bardugo, and Kiera Cass.
Seeing my faeries next to giants?
I had to sit down. Twice. Seriously. It took my breath away. It definitely put wind in my sails to continue with getting the message across of how much each of us are amazing—no matter what others think—along with telling an intricate kick-butt story with all the feels that come with being young.
And we moved into another day and guess what?
Faeries Don’t Hide Kept climbing
Book 3 kept getting more downloads. As of now, midday on 11/28 it has surpassed 3200 downloads and while it has slipped a little from the top 100 free ebooks, it still holds #1 place in 3 different categories:
Anyway, to put this all in perspective? A typical indie fantasy promo sees around 500–1,500 downloads over five days.
We passed that in hours.

- Books 1 and 2 are $0.99 for launch week (12/5/25) … I’m keeping it a little longer because when I scheduled this launch last year, I had no idea we’d have an economic black out during the same time, so keeping the discount price a little longer for those who missed the time frame and would still like to pick these up.
- Started working on Faeries Don’t Love, book 4 in the series. It releases in September. And wow! I loved seeing the pre-orders coming through!
